OPEN SOB: End of Season

By Television • Oct 20th, 2008 • Category: Television

Our little baseball-shaped hearts broke this morning when we found out the Red Sox lost to Tampa Bay last night. We spent the day pondering life and it’s jarring cruelties. We were so despondent, we decided to write poetry, but we cried all over it so we couldn’t read the words. All for the best, we were really just listlessly typing the letter “F” over and over.

We can’t find the time, between looking off into space forlornly and fits of sobbing, to write an article. So consider this Open Sob for the next 24 hours. The lights of meZine may be dim, but they aren’t off.

Dumb Tampa Bay dummies.

Television: it's what's for breakfast. And lunch. And Dinner. If you're like most of us, you watch it a lot. Even if you lie about it.

  1. (sob)

  2. I will kill those S.O.B.’s that made you cry. Meanwhile, I totally had no idea there was a REDSOX game going on last night or the night before. Meanwhile, I had no idea there was a PATRIOTS game goiong on tonight as I found myself ensnarled in Route One traffice. I was trying to cut through coming home from Boston. There should really be more advertisement for these sorts of events. Gosh. And Golly.

  3. Wow. I just realized the above was true. It’s not what my local sports teams can do for me, it is what I can do for them. Which is apparently nothing.

  4. At least the Patriots destroyed last night.

  5. ooh, I thought they had it!
I think we’ll see Theo cut a lot of dead weight this winter. We need more guys like Pedroia the Destroya on the team next year.

  6. Bizarre. Finding out the next morning constitutes Poser not fan. Maybe I’m out of touch with the humor here at Mezine.

  7. Fair enough, Strummer. It’s true, I missed the game by a reason that didn’t involve my death or incapacitation of any sort. I was on a train and I could have checked online for the score or liveboarded when I got home. But I didn’t.

    Strike a pose.

  8. Though I believe it’s “poseur.” But that might be just a pretentious way to spell things, like “colour” or “theatre”.

  9. “Colour” and “theatre” are the British spellings of those words. According to the all-knowing Wikipedia Poseur and Poser are both acceptable spellings. I hadn’t seen “poseur” before.

    Schneiderfest was quite amazing.

  10. I meant pretentious when Americans use that style of spelling. “Poser” is the French spelling, Strummiere. http://www.aolsvc.merriam-webster.aol.com/dictionary/poseur

  11. That would be way pretentious to intentionally spell a word incorrectly. Or just plain dumb.

But Strummiere. I like that. (I’m not French but I kiss that way.)
