Pimpin’ Fresh

By meZine • Aug 3rd, 2008 • Category: meZine

After many arduous weeks of staring blankly at our computers, the staff at meZine is proud to announce the launch of the souped-up, comments-enabled version of your favorite site. We swear that even though it’s suspicious timing, our launch is in no way due to the fact that Scrabulous(tm) was yanked off Facebook. But yes, we’ve had some extra free time.

There are some new features, but we wanted to keep the functionality as similar to the last site as possible to avoid Who Moved My Cheese emails. Though we do love emails, and cheese, so bring ‘em on.

Things that are different:

1. Most of you will have to re-register. Sorry, but the security around these parts is so tight even our decoder rings couldn’t break it. You aren’t required to sign in, but it’s a simple step and will avoid you having to always write in your information when you post. When you first sign in, you are first brought to your user page where you can change any personal options. You’ll have to click out of it to get to the actual site. You can avoid doing this step by clicking “remember me”.

2. Once you are registered, you can change the options of your Daily MeZine under the link that says “Subscriptions”. For those of you who don’t know what Daily MeZine is, it’s an email alert to you when new material goes live. In the new MeZine, you are given the option to choose which categories you want to be notified about. You do not have to register to comment, though, which brings us to -

3. Comments — arguably the most important part of the site. They are now wiiiiide open. The only restriction is the first time you post a comment, it will be held in a queue to determine whether or not you are spam. Once approved, your posts will go up instantly from that point forward. Does anyone else hear harps?

4. Flash Friday has been emancipated and is now it’s own category. Sometimes you just need a place to go and goof off. Err, we mean… do important web-based research on electronified doohickyology.

5. There is an eyeball at the top of the page.

So, without further ado, let’s get on with it. This week we have some red hot new content. We have a new Out There, an iCandy, a movie review and a Flash Friday. We’re back and we’re on fire, baby.

MeZine disclaimer: we’re not actually on fire.
