The Best Albums Since 1980?

Strummer, in this post, asks MeZiners for their list of the best albums in the last 20-30 years. For the sake of consistency, let’s call it the best albums since 1980.
It’s an interesting question, since it eliminates so many of the albums that always make it on the top lists, like the White Album for instance.
In no particular order, here are some of my favorites:
- Violent Femmes, Violent Femmes
- Pleased To Meet Me, The Replacements
- Bee Thousand, Guided By Voices
- Doolittle, The Pixies
- Life’s Rich Pageant, R.E.M.
- Skylarking, XTC
- Nevermind, Nirvana
- Ghost in the Machine, The Police
- Disintegration, The Cure
- Sea Change, Beck
- Slanted and Enchanted, Pavement
I whipped up this list pretty quick, so take it with a grain or two of salt.
