Is TV getting better?

Is it me, or has network television slowly, quietly been getting better?
New (or newish) shows like House, Medium, Desperate Housewives, and Arrested Development are all either good or excellent, and at my house, we�ve got season passes to all of them on our TiVo.
But there�s the rub: is TiVo giving me a more favorable view of network television than the networks deserve? Since TiVo diligently records all of the shows I�m interested in watching, there�s almost always a show I want to watch on television.
So, is TV getting better, or is TiVo just making TV better?
Television: it's what's for breakfast. And lunch. And Dinner. If you're like most of us, you watch it a lot. Even if you lie about it.

Yes, I totally think TV is getting better. I watch it so much more now than I ever did in the last years. Also, the physical TVs are much better.
